Description
This painting is an attempt to reveal the pastimes of Krishna, Radha and the gopi's in Vrindavan, India. The story goes that Krishna was disguised as a ferry man and so unknowingly the gopi's and Radharani took the boat charted by Krishna.
During the trip Krishna demanded they pay him a huge sum of gold for the trip. They refused to pay and suddenly a huge storm arrived and in the dangerous choppy water Krishna demanded that the gopi's throw out their pots of butter to lessen the load. After this Krishna instructed them to throw out their gold jewelry to also reduce the load. The desperate and scared gopi's did so but they were suspicious.
Suddenly the storm ended and Krishna revealed himself from his disguise as a ferry man. This paintings captures that moment at the storms end and shows the amazed expressions as the gopi's see who their mystical ferry man really is.
